A call for a thorough inquiry

Recently several audio clips of former state minister Ranjan Ramanayake’s telephone conversations with judges, politicians, police top brass and his fellow actors and actresses have been leaked. It served to create a completely different aspect of the good governance.
I also agree with the words of Sunday observer’s editor : “it is not for us to speculate on why Ramanayake decided to keep the recording of these possibly top-secret of conversations and how they got leaked to mainstream and social media(the police have denied any responsibility for this),which may or may not seem unethical depending on one’s point of view.” In most other countries, it is illegal to record telephone conversations without their consentience. However, Ranjan Ramanayake’s telephone conversations emerged to the society through social media paling all other escapades.
Involvements of politicians into administrative sector, judiciary, security service and all other government and non-government services is an unpleasant public secret today. However this incident has been become a crucial reveal to the people, about the political ground.
I think people must be alert, especially with the public representatives and should have a correct perspective about their character and perspective. Everyone should be considered under the law in Sri Lanka without regardless of their status. We would never be able to stand as a developed sovereign nation if necessary actions were not taken to the mistakes that were exposed to the nation.

Sunday Observer Editorial - A Future - Oriented Policy Statement - 05/01/2020

Newly appointed SL President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has delivered a descriptive policy statement on 3rd January 2020. It seems that almost all the fields are covered. The editor of the Sunday Observer has said that President Gotabaya’s speech was optimistic than the past leaders. It has been admired by both government and opposition parties.

President Gotabaya has paid his attention to the modern technology and in his words, he is going to apply the new technology to the state sector. Therefore, I think the state sector would be more efficient and effective. Moreover, he has emphasized the need of encouragement in international businesses and the need of improvements in road network including expressways. As well as he sees the high speed internet, telecommunication facilities and also eco-friendly renewable energy resources such as solar power, wind and hydro-power as essentials for the development of the country. If we can fulfill our country’s needs from these plenty of natural resources without any wastage we will be able to be a greatest nation in the world again. Agriculture, plantation and fisheries sectors also has been highlighted by him. He has pointed out the importance of broadening the higher education and the technical education as well. So, I feel his plan of making ready the new administrative sector relevantly by adverting the university students to relevant new courses and giving them relevant knowledge is worthy.

In President’s words, “Our target is to make Sri Lanka a developed country. It must be a sovereign, independent nation. Also, it must be a safe and peaceful country.” However I think if the president wants to make the country according to his statement, he has to pay his cautious attention to the other religious people as well more than this.

I must note here that any of the fruitful thing should be appreciated whatever the government is. We should not be any camp-follower and should be free minded as the citizens in the country. Nevertheless, every performance can be judge after the act. Therefore we have to wait a little time till the President acts and have to examine those all carefully.

However, I think the editor of the Sunday Observer has appreciated the new President more than enough and has adverted people to rely on the new president. Whatever, dear readers be alert; every decision is on your hands!
